If you're a salt watcher, here's some good news that you shouldn't just take with a grain of salt! A new study reported at a meeting of the American Heart Association found that people who consumed more calcium, magnesium and other minerals tended to have lower blood pressure than those who ate less of these minerals. In this study, when calcium, magnesium and other minerals were readily consumed, salt had much less impact on raising blood pressure than expected. When intake of these minerals was low, salt intake drove blood pressure up. It appears that high intake of certain minerals can help to counteract the effects of salt on blood pressure. Calcium, magnesium and other minerals are found in a variety of foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and dairy products. Watkins Superfood Multiple (Super Multi) contains these minerals and many more to help keep salt from "a-salting" you!
