Watkins Commonly Used Natural Ingredients

When J.R. Watkins mixed his first
‘natural remedies’ batch in 1868, he
probably had no idea his “green”
philosophy would be more relevant
today than ever. This new line represents
more than 140 years of innovative,
natural product development —
J.R. would be so proud!

Apricot Kernel Oil:
As an emollient oil, Apricot
Kernel Oil is a light, gentle oil that is especially
useful for dehydrated, mature and sensitive skin.
This oil is used in Watkins hand & body lotions, foot
cream, body creams and body oils.

Avocado Oil: This valued, natural oil is derived from
the flesh of the avocado fruit and is rich in vitamins
A, C and E, as well as protein and amino acids. It
promotes the regeneration of skin as well as softens
and conditions dry skin. Its wonderful emollient and
hydrating properties makes it ideal for dry,
dehydrated or mature skins. This oil is used in
Watkins hand & body lotions, foot cream, body
creams and body oils.

Beeswax:
Made in the bee hive of honey bees, this
natural wax acts as an emulsifier in personal care
products. Beeswax acts as a glove to help prevent
skin irritations, chapping and cracking of the skin.
This wax is used in Watkins beeswax lip balm, hand
& cuticle salves and body creams.

Cocoa Butter: Cocoa Butter is a natural vegetable
fat that is from the beans of the Cacao Tree. Cocoa
Butter is an excellent skin protector that softens and
relieves irritation. It also functions as a natural
thickener in formulas where chemicals are not used.
This ingredient is used in Watkins hand & body
lotions, foot cream and body creams.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is useful in formulations
for dry, itchy and sensitive skin. This light, nongreasy
oil will not clog pores and absorbs readily
into the skin. The flesh of the coconut is rich in
emollient fat and consistency of coconut oil helps to
bind and emulsify natural formulations where no
chemical emulsifiers are desirable. This oil is used in
Watkins hand & body lotions, foot cream and body
creams.

Glycerin: Derived from vegetable oils, this liquid is
used in formulas to improve skins smoothness.
Glycerin is a natural humectant, allowing it to absorb
moisture from the air which helps to keep moisture
in the skin. This liquid ingredient is used in Watkins
hand & body lotions, foot cream and body creams.

Jojoba Seed Oil: Derived from the fruits of the
Jojoba plant, this oil is easily absorbed by the skin
and especially beneficial in soothing inflamed and
irritated skin. This oil is used in Watkins hand & body
lotions, foot cream and body creams.

Panthenol: Derived from plants, Panthenol is a
naturally hydrating form of vitamin B. When applied,
this vitamin absorbs easily into skin and adds much
needed moisture. Regular use of products that
contain this ingredient help skin maintain its natural
moisture balance. This vitamin is used in Watkins
hand & body lotions, foot cream and body creams.

Peppermint Oil: Made from the Peppermint Plant,
this refreshing oil is known for its antibacterial and
cooling properties. This oil is used in Watkins foot
cream and beeswax lip balm.

Shea Butter:
This natural fat is obtained from the
fruit of the West African Karite Tree. This valuable,
nourishing ingredient provides excellent moisturizing
benefits, as well as promotes healing of severely
chapped, cracked skin. This ingredient is used in
Watkins hand & body lotions, foot cream, body
creams and beeswax lip balm.
